Joseph A. ANDERSON was born on Falls Branch of Swan Creek, Hickman County, TN 9 March 1845 and died in Totty's Bend, Hickman County, TN 14 December 1905. He married Josephine Amanda Elgiva FIELDER 21 September 1876. Josephine or "Josie" was born 20 December 1856 and died 23 July 1927.
From his birth until some time after 1860, Joseph lived on his fathers farm on Falls Branch. From the early 1860's until his marriage there is very little information. He may have worked as a laborer in the 1st District. He appears on tax rolls but was missing from the 1870 Census. After his marriage in 1876, he farmed the FIELDER property in the 1st District. Josie's father had died sometime in the early 1860's and she was heir to a portion of the property. During the 1880's Josie and Joseph bought out the other heirs and obtained clear title.
They lived there until 1899, when they sold that farm and bought another from Ben ARNOLD a short distance away in Totty's Bend. Joseph died there in 1905; Josie lived there until her death in 1927. They are buried at the nearby Totty's Bend Church of Christ along with many other family members. Their children were:
